Mary Beth Melia

Mary Beth Melia was born October 10, 1928, in Wichita, Kansas, to James and Lois Hunt and passed away on October 2, 2019.  She attended school in Wichita and married Phillip Max Melia on February 2, 1948. Max and Mary Beth had four children, Shelly Lyn, Geana Kaye, Sally Jo, and Phillip Max, Jr. Mary Beth was active all her life in various family businesses, including Max’s Service, The She Shoppe, Countryside LMCW, and Point Rock Kennels. She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church.   When her girls were small she made all their clothes and later became an avid crocheter.  Mary Beth spent many hours at school programs and sporting events of her grandchildren, Cassandra, Jon Daniel, Jonathan, and Jonna. 

Mary Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Max; parents, James and Lois Hunt; and brothers and sister, Harold, Jack, Bruce, and Jewell; also her son, Phillip Max, Jr.; grandson, Jon Daniel Whisennand; and son-in-law, Charles Adams.  
 
She is survived by Shelly Johnson and Ronald of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Cassandra Owens and  Kelly of Elkhart, Kansas, Jonathan Owens and Dandi of Wamego, Kansas,  and Jonna Owens of Manhattan, Kansas; Geana Adams of Woodbridge, Virginia, Sunshine Adams of Woodbridge, Virginia, Ryland Adams and Elizabeth and Cavanaugh of Kissimmee, Florida;  Ashley Olson and Brian of Los Angeles, California;  Sally Melia of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Lindsey O’Leary and David, Jude and Cia of Salt Lake City, Utah; Landon Constance of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Madison Melia of Salt Lake City, Utah.

As per Mary Beth’s wishes there will be no funeral service at this time, but a graveside celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the Morton County Library in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com.
