Manuel Lombrana Meza, age 83, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Saturday, January 26, 2019, at his home in Ulysses. He was born December 30, 1935, in Menard, Texas, the son of Bonifacio Diaz and Deloris (Lombrana) Meza.

Manuel grew up in Menard and Sundown, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army and after being honorably discharged he settled in Ulysses, Kansas. He married Irma Guerra on September 15, 1962, in Ulysses. Manuel had worked at Ansel Manufacturing in Ulysses and for Collingwood Grain at Big Bow retiring after 35 years. He was a handyman who enjoyed carpenter work and building and remodeling houses. His family was very important to him and he also liked to travel to visit his siblings.

Manuel is survived by his wife, Irma of the home; one son, William Meza; three daughters, Cynthia Meza, Rebecca Bryner and husband Michael, and Norma Meza all of Ulysses; two brothers, Modesto Meza of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Joe Meza of Grand Prairie, Texas; five sisters, Lupe Beohler of Ulysses, Vicki Lewis of Conroe, Texas, Sally Carson of Ulysses, Linda Zuniga of Fritch, Texas, and Mary Lou Meza of Dodge City; nine grandchildren, David Meza and wife Amber, Marlena Wohlgemugh and husband Beau, Madison Meza, Morgan Meza, Malia Meza, Kaden Moody, Colton Moody, Carter Moody, and Tesla Madsen; four great-grandchildren, Manuel Esquivel, Alivia, Christian and Annelaine Meza; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Manuel is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Martha Ann Meza; one brother, BL Meza; and four sisters, Clementine Poppe, Debbie Medina, Madeline Hernandez, and Janie Meza.

Vigil service and rosary will be Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at 7:30 PM at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses. Funeral mass will be Thursday, January 31, 2019, at 10:00 AM at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses with Reverend Peter Fernandez officiating. Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses with Military rites by the Fort Riley Honor Guard and Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 30, 2019, from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses, Kansas. Family requests memorials be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Catherine Hospice in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.
