Visitation: 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM, with family present from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, March 04, 2011 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kansas.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 05, 2011 at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with Reverend Bill Harrold and Pastor Kelly Gindlesberger officiating.
Interment: Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.

Lawrence W. Medlin, age 85, a long time resident of Ulysses, Kansas died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas. He was born July 13, 1925 in Billings, Missouri, the son of Clyde and Emily (Goessling) Medlin.

Lawrence grew up and graduated high school in Billings, Missouri. He married Shirley L. Ford in Ulysses, Kansas on May 21, 1950. Lawrence was the owner of Medlin Construction. He was a member of the Shelton Memorial Christian Church where he served on numerous district positions with the Disciples of Christ. After Lawrence retired, he moved to Hesston, Kansas. He enjoyed working with wood, singing, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling.

Survivors include two sons, Lonnie Medlin and wife Linda of Rantoul, Illinois, Larry Medlin and Diana Ketterman of Wichita, Kansas; two daughters, Mary Burford and husband Ray of Wichita, Kansas, Rhonda Gaede and husband Grant of Hoxie, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Scott Medlin, Jason Medlin and wife Tara, Andrew Medlin, Shelley Burford, David Burford and wife Julia, Alex Gaede and wife Megan, Erik Gaede, Josh Gaede, James Medlin, Christopher Medlin; and five great-grandchildren, Amber, Gabriel, Tyler, Weston and Caden.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley on March 27, 1998; brothers, Carl, John and Warren; sisters, Irene and Catherine; and grandson, Mark.
