Franklin Shane Claypool

Franklin Shane Claypool, 61, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2018 at his home in Tyrone, OK.  Shane was born February 13, 1957 in Stafford, KS.  He was the son of Jimmy Ray Claypool and Wanda Mae (Helm) Claypool.

He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1975.  He later attended Kansas State University and received his bachelor’s degree in Agronomy in 1980.

Shane was raised in Penalosa, KS in a farming household.   While he never farmed on his own he held a special place in his heart for agriculture. He was heavily involved in agriculture in the surrounding panhandle area for 35 years where his tireless work ethic and sense of humor forged lasting friendships.

He was blessed with the gift of music and participated in high school band activities as well as local bands throughout is life.  Shane enjoyed playing in bands that ranged from a fiddle group to rock bands in his free time.  He was also an avid hunter and was never seen without his best friend and four-legged companion.

He met Gretna Ortiz at Kansas State University and was married on December 22, 1979 and moved to Montezuma.   He was blessed with two boys, Kris (1982) and Kevin (1984).  In 1983 he moved to Tyrone.  Shane remarried to Deborah Blaser on August 16, 1986 and their marriage blessed Shane again with a daughter Whitney Shae (1987) and two boys Skylar (1988) and Tylar (1990).

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, father, Jimmy; sister Sandy and sister in-law Sandy.

Shane is survived by his mother, Wanda Claypool of Penalosa, KS; Brothers- Stacey of Heston, KS and Shawn of Woodward, OK; Children- Kris and Daniella Claypool of Liberal, KS and their children Emily, Evan and Ethan; Kevin Claypool of Tyler, TX; Shae and husband Brett Williams of Weatherford, TX and their daughter Briar Faye; Skylar and Tess Claypool of Garland, TX and their children Katie and Gavin; and Tylar Claypool of Edmond, OK.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Tyrone United Methodist Church with Stan Lehnert officiating. Inurnment will be in the Stafford Cemetery in Stafford, Kansas at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2018 with Pastor Nathan Gift officiating. Local arrangements are with Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma.

Memorials are suggested to the Fairfield High School Music Department in Langdon, Kansas and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.
