Fern Katherine Beckerman

Fern Katherine Beckerman, age 88, passed away early Friday morning, August 19, 2016, at the Fowler Residential Care Center, Fowler, Kansas.
She was born May 14, 1928, in rural Minneola, Kansas, the daughter of Leo and Katherine (Berblinger) Hoffman.  As a young girl, she attended the Minneola school system, graduating fro Minneola High School in 1946.  After her graduation, she began her career as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
On May 14, 1952, she married Leonard F. “Turney” Beckerman at Fowler, Kansas.  After their marriage, the couple made their home Fowler.
She was a member of Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church, Fowler, and had served as the church organist.
She had a passion for music and had made it a part of her life.  She also enjoyed working in her yard, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by:
two sons,                                     Mark Beckerman of Hoyt, Kansas
                                                Lee Beckerman of Hutchinson, Kansas
three daughters,                         DeAnn Boyd of Fowler, Kansas
                                                Jackie Strecker of Spearville, Kansas
                                                Kay Roberts of Kiowa, Kansas
a twin sister,                                    LaVerne Leis of Fowler, Kansas
twelve grandchildren                                    four great-grandchildren
She is preceded in death by her husband, on February 13, 2002; her parents; a brother, Bud Hoffman; and a sister, Dorothy Herring.
 
Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Fowler. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Fowler.  Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Interment will follow in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.
 
The family would welcome memorials to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or the Fowler Residential Care Center in care of the funeral home.
