Darrell Duane Grandy

Darrell Duane Grandy, 72, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away July 2, 2018 due to extended injury complications.

Darrell was born March 10, 1946 in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Robert Preston and Grace Olive Pfenninger. He grew up in Garfield, Kansas graduating from Garfield High School with the Class of 1964. After school he attended trade school in Pittsburg, Kansas and became an electrician. His first job was with Dyre Electric in Great Bend and he then purchased the business in 1968. In 1969 he moved to Hooker, Oklahoma and began Northwest Line Construction which he operated until the present time.

He married Connie Tommer on October 5, 1968 and later married Brenda Butler on November 17, 2006.

He was active in the Friends of the NRA and National Wild Turkey Federation; he went on an annual hunting trip with Terry Campbell and an annual trip to St. Martin. Darrell enjoyed his grandkids and their sports along with woodworking and vegetable gardening.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a step grandson, Richard Yorio.

Darrel is survived by his wife Brenda Grandy of Hooker, Oklahoma; son, Sean Grandy and his wife Kathy of Hooker, Oklahoma; daughter, Yvonne Grice and her husband Billy Jack of Goodwell, Oklahoma; his brother, Gary Grandy and his wife Faye of Rozel, Kansas; two grandchildren, Bode and Tryan Grice and two step children, Matthew and Madison McMichael.

Memorials are suggested to the City of Hooker-Main Street and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma, 73945.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Gospel of Grace Church in Hooker, Oklahoma with Pastor Chris McFarland and Deacon Jeff Mitchell officiating.

Inurnment will be on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Garfield Cemetery in Garfield, Kansas and after the committal there will be a family gathering greeting friends at the Garfield Community Center directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma.
