Cherie Lou Rist

Cherie Lou Rist – Starr, 75, of Beaver, Oklahoma passed away August 17, 2011 at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

Cherie was born on December 31, 1935 in Beaver, Oklahoma, the daughter of Burl Gregory and Vivian Ginter-Gregory and was the older of two girls. She attended school in Beaver and graduated in 1954 going on to Panhandle State University in Goodwill, Oklahoma where she received her degree in Elementary Education.

Cherie was united in marriage to Barry Rist in 1956 and lived in Liberal, Kansas for 17 years. She taught elementary school during this time and then moved to Shawnee, Kansas where she continued to teach another 14 years. They both retired in 1988 and then moved to Breckenridge, Colorado where they lived for 8 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Burl and Vivian, her husband Barry, and stepson Steven Starr.

Cherie married Sanford Starr of Beaver, Oklahoma in 2000 and has lived in the Beaver area ever since.

Survivors include her husband Sanford of Beaver, OK; sister, LaNora Potter and Darwin of Baker, OR; children include Brenda Koehring and Mark of Wichita, KS, Charles Rist and Janice of Basehor, KS, Vonn Rist and Trish of Denver, CO. Stepchildren include Nancy Frazier and Mark of Follett, TX, Sandra Ritter and Rex of Fort Worth, TX. Cherie has 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Beaver, OK with the Rev. Don Griffin officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. in the Tyrone Cemetery, Tyrone, OK under the direction of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Hooker, OK.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday until 9 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. to the time of service.

Memorials may be given to the Westview Boys Home and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
