No Sweat for Seward

KSCB News - September 1, 2011 7:14 am

On a day when the mercury reached 108 degrees outside, it wasn’t exactly cool in the Green House Wednesday night. But that didn’t bother the home team in their home opener as Seward beat Colby 3-1 (25-16, 14-25, 25-18, 25-17) in front of a big crowd on Kids Inc. night. Seward is 5-0.

Courtney Geesing was sharp with 15 kills and no errors. The sophomore from Montrose, Colorado had five kills in both the third and fourth games. Daiane Souza had 10 kills and while Marina Dias had 18 assists while Madison Winkelman had 11 digs and Bailey McFerren had 10 blocks.

Seward plays at Vernon Friday against Tyler at 1 p.m. and North Central Texas at 5 p.m. Saturday Seward faces Fort Scott at 8 a.m. and Brookhaven at 10 a.m.
