Head On Crash Claims The Life of a Liberal Woman

A two vehicle crash occured Saturday morning at approximately 10:59am 16 miles north of Liberal on Highway 83. A 2005 Chevy Tahoe being driven by Stacy Dawn Curry, 39, of Liberal, was southbound on Highway 83 when she crossed the centerline, striking head on, a 2004 Mercedes Benz being driven by Nayeli Gonzalez, 22, of Liberal who was northbound on Highway 83. Gonzalez died at the scene. Curry was taken to Southwest Medical Center to be treated for her injuries, then was later transported to a Wichita hospital. A passenger in the Gonzalez vehicle, 2 year old Damien Gonzalez was not injured in the accident. Seatbelts were in use in both vehicles..
