Liberal City Commission Meets, Votes To Allow Conceal/Carry
12/23/2013

The Liberal City Commission met Monday evening at 6:30pm for their final regular meeting of 2013. On the agenda for the meeting was the City's Conceal/Carry plan. The City Commission approved to allow citizens who are registered Conceal/Carry permit holders to conceal/carry in all City buildings, with the exception of the Police Department and Municipal Court, where security measures are already in place. The motion also included allowing registered conceal/carry employees to carry while on the job and while in City vehicles without having to report that they have a permit to City Administration. The employee portion of the motion will require a change in the current City personnel policy. Commissioners approved end of the year Reclassification of Delinquent Accounts Receivable and Utility Accounts and Fiscal Year 2013 transfers. Kyle Brewer was appointed to a 3 year term on the JEDC Board and the Commissioners approved the acknowledgement of the establishing of Friends of Arkalon Park Inc. this is a 501c(3) non-profit organization. Purchases approved at the meeting include pallet forks and a broom for the Water Departments Bobcat, and gas masks and E-citation equipment for the Police Department. Also approved was the acceptance of a Nighttime Seabelt Enforcement Grant for the Police Department in the amount of $5481.00. The City Commission will meet on January 2nd for a special meeting.
