Weekend Hay Fire Consumes 20 Semi Loads of Tires

On behalf of Seward County Fire Department we would like to say Thank You to the following for the assistance of staff, equipment, food, donations and support. The event was a large hay and tire fire located in the 14000 block of Road 4 that occurred on Friday July 12th at 1119 hours – this fire consumed some 5000 plus bales and 20 semi loads of tires valued at greater than $300,000.00 – the last unit cleared scene on Sunday July 14th at 1453 hours and the scene was released back to the owners – there were still some hot spots that they were going to continue to watch and they would let us know if they needed any further assistance.
