K-96 Work To Begin In Greeley County

            The Kansas Department of Transportation expects a resurfacing project on K-96 in Greeley County to begin by July 9, weather permitting. The project runs from the Kansas/Colorado state line to the junction of K-96 and K-27 at Tribune. The contractor will recycle the top two inches of asphalt and then cover that with a chip seal to protect and preserve the pavement. Center line rumble strips will also be added to the roadway.

            During construction hours, traffic will be limited to one lane through the work zone, guided by a pilot car. Drivers can expect delays of 15 minutes or less. The Kansas DOT urges drivers to be alert, pay attention to all work zone warning signs, slow down when approaching a work zone and be prepared to stop.

Dustrol, Inc., of Towanda is the primary contractor on this approximately $1.7 million project. KDOT expects work on this project to be completed by the end of August, depending on weather.
