Two Local Youth Perform Act of Heroism

What started out a a typical afternoon for 17 year olds Kevin Archer and Taylor Seigrist, turned into the two performing an act of bravery and heroics. Kevin Archer and Taylor Seigrist were doing what most typical 17 year olds doing when they are out of school, they were just hanging out. The young men were at a residence in the Wind Ridge Pointe addition of Liberal, when they noticed a couple of young girls in a boat on the lake. They then observed as one girl fell from the boat into the lake. The boys watched for several minutes as the young lady kept going under the water as the other girls in the boat tried pulling her back into the boat. Realizing that the girls were not going to be able to get her into the boat, and that others might also fall into the lake, the boys quickly ran from the residence, jumped into the lake and and swam to where the girl and the boat were. Archer and Seigrist managed to get the girl back into the boat, and then pull the boat to safety. The girls thanked the boys and left the scene before either party got any names. Assistant Fire Chief Skeety Poulton of the Liberal Fire Department observed the soaked boys and at first thought they were swimming, when later it was brought to his attention of this true act of bravery.
