Liberal Wins MAYB Tournament

About twenty teams converged on Liberal High School and West Middle School for Liberal's MAYB Basketball Tournament. Liberal won the 11-12th grade division 52-41 over Seiling. Liberal trailed 33-26 at halftime but back to back dunks by Jade Cathey helped spark Liberal early in the second half. Dalhart came in third. The High Plains Storm beat the Liberal girls 41-30 for the 11-12th grade crown. The Storm is an all star team from Panhandle area schools. Satanta placed third. In the 8-10th grade division, the High Plains Storm boys took first with Perryton second and Ulysses third. In the 8-10th grade girls division, the Sharpshooter girls were first followed by New Addition from Garden City and Perryton. Liberal did not have teams in the 8-10th grade boys or girls divisions.
