Lady Saints defensive in victory
02/26/2009

Lady Saints Defense Clamps Down on Novak: Seward’s defense didn’t want a repeat of January 28 in Garden City. That’s the night Seward escaped with a 97-89 win and Garden City’s Katie Novack and Cheree Freeman scored 30 a piece. Last night the Lady Saints held Novack to one point and Freeman to 10 points in an 81-53 win. Seward improves to 24-5 overall and 12-3 in the Jayhawk West. Seward forced 26 Garden City turnovers in a game they led 45-26 at halftime. The Lady Busters fall to 10-19 overall and 4-11 in the Jayhawk West. LaNell Taylor scored 21 on Sophomore Recognition Night with five three pointers. Rachel Barnes added 14 points and 12 rebounds. Vaneza Junior added 10 points and 6 rebounds. Seward plays at Butler Saturday night at 5:30 on B107.5 and kscb.net. A Lady Saints win coupled with a Hutchinson win over Cloud in Hutch gives Seward the two seed from the Jayhawk West.
