Satanta Man Injured After Attempting to Pass Car on Highway 83
06/05/2009

A Satanta man was taken to the hospital after a two car crash 4.5 miles north of Liberal at about 10:00 PM Thursday night. A 2000 Ford Excursion SUV was headed north on Highway 83. A 2006 Toyota Tundra pickup driven by 61 year old Max Burton Blundell of Satanta was also headed north and began to pass the SUV. The SUV began to turn left to go west on Seward County Road 11 as Blundell was trying to pass. The two vehicles collided with the SUV coming to rest on the southbound shoulder facing north while Blundell's vehicle came to rest on the northbound shoulder facing north. Blundell was injured and taken to Southwest Medical Center. There were six occupants in the SUV but no one in that vehicle was injured.
