LHS Girls Show Improvement in Second Tournament

Results from the Colby Varsity Girls Tennis Invitational Saturday, September 3, 2011


 

With a 1st Place finish in #2 Singles, Jackie Nguyen leads the Lady Redskins to 2nd Place team honors in Colby. Competing teams included Colby, Scott City, Osborne, Norton, and Phillipsburg.


 

Individual Results:


 

#1 Singles—Kathy Nguyen went 1-2 on the day. She lost to Norton’s State Champion, Tawni Griffi 0-6, lost to Colby’s Paige Roopchan 5-7, then bounced back to defeat Scott City’s Kathryn Buehler 6-4.


 

#2 Singles—Jackie Nguyen went 3-1 in Round-Robin play to win 1st Place honors. She defeated Scott City’s Brianna Eahizer 6-1, lost to Colby’s Bridgette Bickner 4-6, then defeated Norton’s Sierra Black 6-0, and defeated Colby’s Alexa Schindler 6-1.


 

#1 Doubles—Lauren Harp & Melissa Alvarado went 1-2 in pool play finishing 4th Place. They lost to Colby’s Schroeder/Keck 4-6, defeated Norton’s Kendel/Robison 6-0, then lost to Scott City’s Kucharik/Vasko 1-6.


 

#2 Doubles—Maddie Rees & Madison Martinez went 1-2 in pool play finishing 4th Place. They lost to Colby’s Lamm/Gieber 1-6, defeated Norton’s Burge/Scott 6-3, then lost to Scott City’s Beeson/Rice 4-6.
