It's Time to Shrine for Area Athletes
07/29/2011

Saturday is Shrine Bowl Weekend in Kansas.  The football game is Saturday night at 7 p.m. between the East and the West at Lewis Field in Hays.  Meade's Kellen Hernandez (wr, s) and Stanton County's Austin Nairn (rb) play for the West.  Liberal's Jade Cathey was named to the roster in January but won't play in the event.  Garden City's Keith Curran (lb), the son of former LHS basketball standout Sam Curran represents the Buffaloes while WAC brothers Jesse Trent (line) of Dodge City, Casey Sedbrook (tb, olb, and s) of Hays, and Greg Hildebrand (qb) of Great Bend play for the West.   The game kicks off at 7 p.m. at Lewis Field in Hays.

Three Redskin cross country runners and their coach are in Hays for the Shrine Bowl Cross Country Race.  Liberal's Alejandro Avila, Jaime Minjarez, and Alan Grajeda make the all star team for the West along with head coach Cheri Beavis.  Hugoton's Heber Jimenez also makes the West team.  The race finishes on the track during pre-game of the football game.
