LHS Swimmers Show Improvement at WAC

Ashlyn Westerman

Here are several highlight for us:

Ashlyn Westerman is a First Team All WAC Swimmer
Maria Pohorecki is a Second Team All WAC Swimmer

Our 200 Yard Medley Relay took 3rd place with a time of 2:17.62  (Alley Bowen, Maria Pohorecki, Taylor Apsley, Ashlyn Westerman)

In the 200 Yard IM - Maria Pohorecki took 6th (2:54.90), Taylor Apsley took 7th (2:55.67) and Alley Bowen took 8th (2:56.44)

In the 50 Yard Free - Ashlyn Westerman took 2nd with a time of 28.59

In the 100 Yard Butterfly - Taylor Apsley took 7th (1:23.11) and Alexandra Palma took 10th (1:31.08)

In the 100 Free - Ashlyn Westerman took 3rd  (1:03.52) and Morgan Wills took 10th (1:08.32)

In the 500 Yard Free - Alley Bowen took 5th (7:10.40)

Our 200 Yard Free Relay took 4th place with a time of 2:02.13 (Morgan Wills, Taylor Apsley, Alley Bowen, Ashlyn Westerman)

In the 100 Backstroke - Morgan Wills took 9th (1:30.35)

In the 100 Breaststroke - Maria Pohorecki took 3rd (1:24.77)
LHS coach Shelly Tiedeman says the team came on strongly.
"We had so many improvements in time, out of the 57 swims yesterday, 50 of them were best times which was AMAZING!!  I'm extremely proud of the growth this team has shown in the two years I've been a part of it.  I really look forward to what next year will bring."


The Final Results were -
   Great Bend - 357 points
   Garden City - 295 points
   Dodge City - 285 points
   Liberal - 172 point   **Liberal's first swimming win over Hays***
   Hays - 168 points
