Seward Stays in Third with Split
04/21/2011

The Seward softball team may have lost an opportunity to catch Garden City in the softball standings.  Seward split a pair of games in Garden City Wednesday winning 7-3 but losing 4-3.  Garden City is 10-2 in the Jayhawk West while the Saints are 9-5.  The teams split the season series.

In game one, Sydney Cicchetti improved to 22-3.  Leah Sitter and Kelsea Blackstock both had two hits a piece in the win.  Seward withstood a Broncbuster rally when they scored three in the seventh.

In game two, it was Seward who rallied but fell short.  Michelle Duford hit a two run homer in the seventh in the 4-3 loss.  Duford was 3-4.

Seward is 35-11 and 9-5 in the Jayhawk West while Garden is 40-15 overall and 10-2 in the Jayhawk West. Butler leads the race at 34-8 overall and 9-1 in the conference.  Garden and Butler haven't played each other yet.  Seward plays their final home game Wednesday against Dodge City.
