Standley Headed Back to Sooner State
03/09/2011

After two years, Wade Standley is returning to his roots.  The Okemah, Oklahoma native and former Tulsa Union defensive coordinator is leaving Liberal to take the head coaching job at Norman North High School.  Standley will coach the track and field team this spring at LHS before heading south.  Standley coached the Redskins to a 3-7 season in 2009 and a 3-6 season in 2010.  He coached at Union for nine years.  He takes over a program which was a  playoff contender last season and returns one of the state's top running backs in Donovon Roberts.  The Timberwolves were 3-7 last year.

LHS Athletic Director Scott Hinkle says he hopes the process of finding a replacement will be a fast one.  "We will begin an immediate search for a new head football coach at Liberal High School"

"I have a very short list of candidates at this point in time, and hope we can name a new head football coach in the very near future."

Next year's head coach will be a the sixth head coach in 10 years in the of the program.
