SCCC Softball Sweeps KJCCC Awards
02/23/2011

After a 4-0 week with sweeps over Northern
Oklahoma-Tonkawa and Pratt, two Seward County Lady Saints sophomores
have swept the weekly Jayhawk Conference Softball awards.  Lynda Musick
was named the conference's Player of the Week after hitting .462 with 5
RBI's and 5 runs scored in the four Seward wins.  Thursday against
Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa, the sophomore second baseman picked up 4 hits
and 4 RBI's in the double header while also scoring 3 runs and stealing
a base.  On Saturday against the Pratt Beavers she bounced back from an
0 for 3 game one to have 2 hits and 2 runs scored in the back end of the
double dip to give Seward the 5-2 win. Sydney Cicchetti was named the
Jayhawk's first Pitcher of the Week for the 2011 season after the Lady
Saints ace pitched in two games this week, posting a 2-0 record and a
1.00 ERA while striking out 17 in 14 innings of work.  Thursday against
Northern Oklahoma Cicchetti put up zero's in the 6th and 7th innings to
preserve a one run win while on Saturday against Pratt she continued her
domination of the Beavers spinning a complete game while allowing just 2
hits and no earned runs while tying a career high set last season
against Pratt with 12 strikeouts.

Musick, Cicchetti and the rest of the Lady Saints will
hit the diamond again tomorrow when they host Clarendon in a
non-conference double header at Lady Saints Field starting at 1:00.
