Lady Skins Defenseless in Loss

Liberal's defense took a step back Friday night in a 66-38 loss to Hays Friday night for homecoming in the Big House.  Liberal allowed mostly Hays layups in a blowout loss.  Hays led 19-8 at the end of a quarter and trailed by 14 (22-8, 24-10, and 28-14) in the second quarter.  LHS went on a 7-0 run to make it 28-21 at halftime.  But Hays (7-7, 3-1) was dominant in the third quarter out scoring Liberal 21-9 in the third quarter.  LHS head coach Shane Stout is puzzled by his team right now.  "We're not very good right now," the coach said after their third straight loss.  "It's not that we're not capable basketball players.  We had no answer defensively and we didn't look very well prepared.  If you are going to give up 66 points in girls basketball, you are going to lose.  It wasn't a very good effort." 

Liberal is 8-8 overall and 1-4 in the WAC.  Liberal plays at Guymon Monday night at 6:30 on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
