Pancake Day Talent Show Preliminary Winners Announced

2011 Talent Show Preliminary Results Liberal, Kansas— Area and local talent competed in the preliminary round Saturday and the finalists for the 2011 Pancake Day Talent Show are as follows: Tiny Tot: Jensen Mettlen, Liberal, doing a jazz dance to “Baby” Emma Evans, Liberal, dancing to “Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” Korben Clawson, Meade, singing “He’s Still in the Fire” Abbie Dowell, Liberal, dancing to “What Time Is It” Dance Images Tiny Troupe, Liberal, dancing to “Funky Y2C” Intermediate: Gatlin Clawson, Meade, singing Too Much Fun Montana Beesley, Hugoton, singing and playing “Amazing Love” on the guitar Jordan Urban, Liberal, singing “Popular” Alaina Hernandez, Liberal, performing Karate to “Can’t Stop the Rain” Sydney Beesley, Hugoton, singing a medley from Annie Junior: Sydney Mathews, Forgan, OK, singing “I Know Where I’ve Been” Mariah Rome, Hugoton, doing a hula hoop dance to “Love Like Woe” Lauren Sarchet, Liberal, singing “Worst Pies in London” Cooper Clawson, Meade, playing the “River Flows in You” on the piano Collin McClendon, Pampa, TX, singing “There Will Be A Day” Senior: Miguel Rodriquez, Liberal, singing “Grenade” Jackie Karson, Pampa, TX, singing “If I Die Young” Yoko Rader, Liberal, doing a lyrical dance to “The Call” Nathan Hillegeist, Great Bend, singing “Chicken Fried” Rylan Davis, Sublette, singing and playing “Hey Stephen” on the guitar Pro-Am: Baylee Hoskinson, Aubrey Hamlin, Tyrell Sandoval and Nikki Moler, Hugoton, doing an Irish clog to “Dueling Violins” Wendy Keith, Hooker, OK, singing “Me and Bobby McGee” Cassie Mains, Ellsworth, singing “The Climb” Kyla Mills, Hugoton, singing “My Paper Heart” Erick Rodriguez and Esteban Martinez, both of Liberal, singing and playing “I’m Yours” on the guitar Judges for the preliminaries were Dallas Roths, vocal and instrumental instructor at Satanta High School, Brian Stuckenschmidt, vocal instructor at Ulysses High School, and Dusty Bauman, dance/cheer coach at Garden City Community College. Sally Yates from Hay, Rice and Associates provided auditing services. The Talent Show is slated for 7:30 p.m., Monday, Mar. 7 at Liberal High School and will spotlight these 25 acts as they compete for trophies and prize money in five categories: Tiny Tot (4-8), Intermediate (9-12), Junior (13-16), Senior (17-20) and Pro-Am (open to all professional and amateur entertainers, regardless of age). Tickets go on sale today, Feb. 7, at the Tourist Information Center, 1 Yellow Brick Road. They are $7 in advance and $10 at the door.
