Longtime Topeka Sportscaster Dies
12/28/2010

A longtime Topeka sportscaster was found dead in his home Monday.

Ron Paradis,66, was a sportscaster for WIBW-TV for 29 years.

Topeka Police say they responded to a call of an unattended death just before 12:30 pm Monday. They say their report does not indicate it was anything other than natural causes.

Paradis joined WIBW-TV in 1969 and continued on the air for 29 years, leaving in October 1997. He also spent time as the radio voice of the Kansas State Wildcats. Paradis was named Kansas sportscaster of the year five times and, in the summer of 2010, was inducted into the Shawnee County Sports Council Hall of Fame.

Paradis also was known for his basketball talent. He was a member of K-State's 1964 Final Four team.

Details on services are not known.
