Last Beam In Place For New Garden City High School
12/03/2010

A milestone for the new Garden City High School gives the community a reason to celebrate. More than 100 people attended a "Topping Out Ceremony" Thursday afternoon at the construction site of the new Garden City High School.

Workers put the last beam into place, meaning the structure of the building is now finished. There's still a lot to be done before the school opens in August, 2012, but the district says the building progress is a month ahead of schedule.

The $92.5 million building covers 384,000 square feet and allows for an enrollment of 2,000 students. It's being funded through a bond issue that passed in the November, 2008 election.
