SWMC Parking Plan Takes Affect Wednesday
11/15/2010

LIBERAL, KS - Whenever there is construction – parking is always an issue. Southwest Medical Center is beginning their new building construction and in order to make things run more smoothly for patients, visitors and staff, a plan has been put in place.

“We want to make sure that the transition into the construction phase goes as smoothly as possible,” said Southwest Medical Center Public Relations Director Nancy Kletecka. “Therefore, a plan for the parking here is an intricate part of the project.”

Southwest Medical Center’s building project is expected to take approximately 21 months for completion. Demolition was set to start on Tuesday, November 17.

“Fencing and signage will be placed Tuesday evening routing patients and visitors to temporary parking lots,” explained SWMC Vice President of Operations Michele Gillespie. “The front entrance of the hospital will be closed; signage will direct visitors and patients through the Emergency Room. As one phase of construction is completed and a new phase is started, patients and visitors may be required to park in another location. We plan on posting clearly marked signs in order to keep any confusion to a minimum.”

Gillespie noted that SWMC administration has been “very pleased with the selection of the construction contractor” thus far.

“The process to date has been a thorough and very professional experience,” she said.
