You Drink, You Drive, You Lose
08/13/2014

The Liberal Police Department in conjunction with approximately 150 other law enforcement agencies across the State of Kansas will be cracking down on impaired driving. The Liberal Police Department will be increasing patrols by staffing additional officers in order to arrest those who choose to drive under the influence, beginning on August 15th, 2014 through September 2rd, 2014.

“Kansas averages four persons injured and one person killed every 3 days in alcohol related crashes,” according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.  “Research has shown that high-visibility enforcement like the You Drink, You Drive,You Lose campaign reduces alcohol-impaired driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent.  By joining this nationwide effort, we will make Liberal’s roadways safer for everyone throughout the Labor Day period.”

In addition to cracking down on impaired drivers, officers of the Liberal Police Department will be strictly enforcing the states seatbelt laws during this time period. Remember if You Drink, You Drive, You Lose. For more information contact the Liberal Police Department at 620-626-0141.
