Buffalo Bill Dixon Coming To SCCC/ATS Library
10/25/2010

The Seward County Community College/Area Technical School Library continues

its "Lunch in the Library" series with living historian Marc Ferguson as

famed buffalo hunter Billy Dixon at 12 noon, Wednesday, Nov. 3.

Dixon gained fame as a hunter and scout, but was probably best remembered

for what happened in 1874 at the Battle of Adobe Walls. As part of a small

trading community in the Texas panhandle, Dixon was one of 29 people who

held off an attack of 700 Plains Indian warriors. Dixon was also one of only

eight civilians in U.S. history to receive the Medal of Honor.

Bring your own lunch and the library will provide the drinks and cookies!

Those in attendance will have a chance to win tickets to the Dalton Gang

hideout in Meade.

For information, contact Matthew Pannkuk at 620- 417-1161.
