10/24/2010

A fugitive from California with an extensive history of violent crimes and a "person of interest" in a Dodge City bank robbery, was shot during an executed search warrant in Dodge City Friday.

Friday, October 22nd at approximately 10:25 p.m., the Dodge City Police Department, along with officers from the Ford County Sheriff's Office, agents from the Kansas Bureau of Investigations and agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigations executed a search warrant in the 1300 block of Sunnyside.

The subject of the search warrant, Angel Garcia Aguirre, is a fugitive from California with an extensive history of violent crimes. He is also a person of interest in the October 21, 2010 armed robbery of the Bank of America on North Central Avenue in Dodge City, Kansas.

According to the Dodge City Police Department, at approximately 11:55 p.m. Aguirre was located at 1312 Sunnyside, was armed with a handgun, and attempted to flee. Aguirre was shot by officers on the scene. He was transported to Western Plains Regional Hospital by emergency medical personnel and later airlifted to Wichita. His condition is unknown at this time.
