'Elvis' Performing at Annual Chamber Banquet

The Guymon Chamber of Commerce will be hosting it's Annual Fundraising Chamber Banquet, the theme this year being "Vegas".

Executive Director for the Chamber Ronnie Malone said, " The banquet is a lot of fun. It is the biggest fundraiser for the chamber and is a chance to show appreciation of chamber membership."

The event will be held at Pickle Creek on Oct. 12th at 6:30 pm with "Elvis" performing live.

The traditional table decorating contest between chamber members will once again unfold with Memorial Hospital coming back to try and defend it's winning title from last year. The winner of the table contest receives bragging rights with the traveling trophy and a full page add in the Guymon Daily Herald.

"The table decorating contest is a big hit, everyone gets involved. It has really increased attendance of the banquet the last few years," said Malone.

The catered meal will be provided by Sodexo, serving roast beef with garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, and dessert.

Through out the evening, tickets will be sold for a chance at the 50/50 drawing in which the winner will receive 50 percent of the money raised and the other 50 percent going to the chamber. Tickets for the drawing are $1 each or 6 for $5 and will be sold during the banquet.

A silent auction will also be available to guests with merchandise being donated by chamber members.

Malone said, "There is a large variety of items for the auction, big and small items."

Some of the items already donated for auction are a love-seat from Guymon Furniture, a fire pit from Wirtz Lumber, Oakley sunglasses from Guymon Vision, as well as oil changes, jacuzzi suites, gift certificates to restaurants, and food coupons, just to name a few.

Numerous awards will be presented as well during the banquet. The Chamber will present awards for "Small business of the Year" and "Volunteer of the Year", the Ambassadors will present an award for "Ambassador of the Year", and the Mayor will present an award for "Citizen of the Year".

The event is open to everyone interested, tickets are $20 per person and a door prize will be given at the end of the evening.
