Hays Holds Off Liberal to Win WAC Track

Hays won their fifth straight WAC boys track and field title and Garden City won their third straight girls title Thursday at Dodge City Memorial Stadium.  Hays scored 105 points followed by Liberal (96.5), Dodge City (83), Garden City (47.5), and Great Bend (43).  Garden City's girls scored 183.66 for first followed by Dodge City (104.33), Hays (62), Liberal (14), and Great Bend (9). 

Top five finishers scored points in WAC. Here are the top five finishers. 

110 Hurdles- Trenton Hammond 1st 14.96 and Edwin Sobalvarro 2nd at 15.54

300 Hurdles- Trenton Hammond 1st 38.57  and Edwin Sobalvarro 2nd 40.82

Triple Jump- Trenton Hammond 1st 44-03.50 and Chase Eatmon 3rd 42-11.25

4x400- 1st with Trenton Hammond, Erving Altamirano, Edwin Sobalvarro, and Eli Altamirano in 3:22.80

4x800- 1st with Octavio Arredondo, Mershek Wiltshire, Greg McClurg, and Ivan Aleman in 8:21.19

High Jump- Chase Eatmon 2nd 6'

800- Erving Altamirano 2nd 50.97  Eli Altamirano 5th 52.46

Javelin- Nolan Larkin 2nd 172-06.50 and Victor Carrera 3rd 169-03

Shot Put- Hayden Coker 4th 48-09

4x100- 3rd with Kyler Thompson, Edwin Sobalvarro, Mizael Gonzalez, and Eli Altamirano 45.11

1600- Sam Obando 3rd 4:45.39 and Obed Quintana 5th 4:48.01

3200- Sam Obando 3rd 10:17.79  Obed Quintana 4th 10:21.69

Girls

Javelin- Carley Shelton 3rd 122  and Steph Garcia 5th 104-07

Shot Put- Carley Shelton 4th 33-04

4x800- 4th with Mercy Perez, Yanelly Jurado, Holly Hinkle, and Cam Slatten 10;18.88

3200- Mercy Perez 5th   12:34.34
