Dodge City Event Center To Open In February
08/29/2010

The Dodge City Ford County Events Center is scheduled to open in February, and work is already under way to attract events to the $41 million facility.

The multi-purpose structure is located next to the Boot Hill Casino in Dodge City and is being paid for through a local sales tax. It includes a sports arena, where organizers plan to host soccer, basketball, boxing and even ice hockey.

Rick Kozuback is CEO of Global Entertainment Corporation, which manages the facility. He says he hopes to bring minor league hockey teams to western Kansas, to compete on the 4,300 square foot hockey rink.

The rink could also be the site of ice shows and ice training for the Olympics with extended stay training.
