04/17/2014

The Seward softball team split with Garden City Wednesday at Lady Saints Field and in the process probably suffered their most painful loss of the season.  Seward lost 8-5 but won 4-3 after winning 15-5 and 15-2 in Garden City March 12.

In game one, Garden City led 4-2 and then scored four in the fifth to lead 8-2.  Seward had four errors and Garden City out-hit Seward 11-10.  Danielle Orr hit a home run in the loss.

Seward took the second game 4-3.  The Lady Saints broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the bottom of the sixth.  Pokey Ewell was 3-4 with three RBI's and Orr was 3-3.  Katelyn Craker struck out eight in the win.  Seward out-hit GCCC 9-5 and the Lady Saints did not have an error.

Seward is 39-11 and 8-4 in the Jayhawk West while the Broncbusters are 19-23 overall and 7-7 in the Jayhawk West.  Seward hosts 11-33 Pratt for Sophomore Recognition Friday at 2 at Lady Saints Field.  It is the last home double header for Seward this season.  Seward is 17-3 at home.
