A convicted murderer is back behind bars today after he briefly escaped the Grant County Jail Monday. Twenty-four year old Marcos Lomas was back in custody within the hour. Lomas broke out of jail at 1:35 a.m. Monday.
Lomas pleaded guilty June 3 to one count of capital murder in the August 30, 2008 stabbing deaths of his neighbors, Marcos and Hilda Garcia, who were found dead in the BedRock Moblile Home Park in Ulysses. Lomas is awaiting sentencing but his guilty plea is expected to spare him of the death penalty.
