Cinco De Mayo Committee Announces Logo Contest

The Cinco de Mayo Committee is planning its 8^th Annual Cinco de Mayo Community Celebration on May 1, 2011 and is looking for a new logo.

“We want a logo that will incorporate the idea that our Cinco de Mayo event is more than a celebration of the Hispanic heritage but an event that can bring the whole community together,” said Dean Aragon, chair of the 2011 celebration. “So we really want the logo to emphasize that community aspect.”

Plans for the 2011 event include a wider array of music, entertainment and booths, according to Aragon. “We’ve been fortunate that every year, this event has gotten bigger and bigger but we still want more inclusion from the whole community.”

The rules of the logo contest are simple. The logo needs to include the words “8^th Annual Cinco de Mayo Community Celebration,” must be easily reproduced in color and black and white, and must be submitted by Sept. 30 to the Cinco de Mayo Committee, PO Box 1112, Liberal KS 67905, drop it by the Chamber office at 4 Rock Island Road, or emailed to the Liberal Area Chamber of Commerce, .

The winning entry will be selected by the Cinco de Mayo Committee and the winner will receives $200 and professional recognition in all Cinco de Mayo Committee publications that utilize the logo.

For more information about the contest, contact Kay Burtzloff, marketing chair of the Cinco de Mayo Committee at 620-624-5400.
