The 11 year old Cimarron River Rattlers represented Kansas in grand style Friday in their Midwest Plains Regional opener. Cole Evans homered twice in their 9-8 win over Missouri. The Rattlers built a 7-1 lead after four before Missouri plated seven in the fifth. But Evans' second homer, a two run shot in the fifth gave the Rattlers the lead back. Servando Avila also hit a homer. Sylman Pondo won the Hustle Award and Evans was the Offensive Player of the Game. The Rattlers play North Dakota Saturday night at 6:45.
The 12 years olds open play at 7 p.m. Saturday night in Lamar against La Junta.
