02/25/2014

The mayor of Campo and his sons are facing theft and embezzlement charges.

Campo's Police Chief says the three have stolen between seven hundred and one thousand dollars in gas.

Ray Johnson and his twin sons Kevin and Kasey were arrested Tuesday.

Court records show Kevin is is a sergeant with the Campo Police Department, and Kasey is with the Campo Fire Department.

Police say they  filled up on the town's gasoline up to ten times over the last month and a half.

Police say they have video of the three using a locked pump to fill up their personal vehicles and gas cans.

They were unlocking the pump with the key given to Kevin for his patrol car.

Over 230 gallons were taken.

Ray Johnson has served as Mayor of Campo for more than 10 years

I hope they throw the book at them but it will be doubtful since the police chief is also the judge or was the judge and court is at night so attorney representation is costly if you can even hire one. This town has been running a speed trap using one of the ones accused in this article for quite a while. I say boycott this towns services until they can be honest with the travelers of highway 287. I understand speed is a issue in the center of town but when a trucker knows the keystone cop is in the center of town and is in a gear preventing excessive speed with his 4 ways on and 15 trucks behind him and still gets a ticket for 20 mph over somethings wrong.
