A Day At The Library
01/13/2014

Come join us for A Day At The Library on Thursday January 16th. The Kansas Genealogical Society Inc. members invite you to a free session in which you will learn about the resources available at the KGS Library found in the lower level of the Village Square Mall in Dodge City, Kansas.

Over the last 50 years the KGS/KSDAR Library has been a service made available by the KGS membership. Our members live all over the country as well as in southwestern Kansas. Many members are not able to use the resources in person but make use of our internet website or by communicating through the use of email or the postal service. Local members volunteer their time and services to maintain the library as well as provide open periods for the public .  Currently the open periods are Tuesday by appointment; Wednesday through Friday afternoons 1:30 p.m. through 5:00 p.m.; and the first and third Saturdays 10:45 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Members of the public are asked to pay a fee of$3.00 for a day of research, while members of KGS and KSDAR may use the facility during those periods for no fee. There is no fee being charged for the January 16th meeting.

During The Day At The Library there will be short informative sessions to explain the items available in the library and how to access them. This day will provide you with an opportunity to discover historical or family related materials which would be helpful in your own research. You will be able to browse both libraries, meet fellow genealogists and have an opportunity to win prizes. There will be data indexes available for demonstration as well as a demonstration of our Library Catalog which is on the KGS computers. Anyone with an interest in historical or family research is welcome to attend this session which will be held from 10:00 a.m. To 4:00 p.m.
