...WINTRY PRECIPITATION EXPECTED THROUGH FRIDAY...

.COLD AIR WILL MOVE INTO WESTERN KANSAS TODAY. RAIN THIS MORNING
WILL CHANGE TO FREEZING DRIZZLE AS THE MORNING PROGRESSES, AND THEN
TO SNOW OR SLEET LATE TONIGHT AND INTO FRIDAY.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON CST /11 AM
MST/ TODAY TO 5 PM CST /4 PM MST/ FRIDAY...

* TIMING...MIDDAY THURSDAY THROUGH 6 PM CST FRIDAY. FREEZING
  DRIZZLE WILL DEVELOP BY MIDDAY IN FAR WESTERN KANSAS AND THEN
  SPREAD SOUTHEASTWARD INTO SOUTHERN KANSAS BY LATE AFTERNOON.
  SOME FREEZING RAIN IS ALSO POSSIBLE FROM MID MORNING INTO EARLY
  AFTERNOON FOR LOCATIONS SUCH AS LARNED AND LACROSSE. SNOW IS
  EXPECTED TO DEVELOP LATE TONIGHT IN FAR WESTERN KANSAS AND THEN
  SPREAD EASTWARD TOWARD FRIDAY MORNING TO LOCATIONS SUCH AS DODGE
  CITY AND JETMORE. THE PRECIPITATION LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY FRIDAY
  MAY BE IN THE FORM OF SLEET IN SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS INCLUDING
  MEDICINE LODGE.

* SNOW/ICE ACCUMULATIONS...ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE SMALL AND
  LESS THAN A TENTH OF AN INCH. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL VARY FROM
  LESS THAN AN INCH IN SOUTH CENTRAL AND CENTRAL KANSAS INCLUDING
  PRATT AND HAYS, TO 1 TO 2 INCHES IN FAR SOUTHWESTERN KANSAS
  INCLUDING SYRACUSE, JOHNSON AND ELKHART.

* MAIN IMPACT...TEMPERATURES FALLING INTO THE 20S TO LOWER 30S
  ALONG WITH STRONG NORTH WINDS MAY ALLOW THE DRIZZLE TO FREEZE ON
  ROADS AND SIDEWALKS TODAY. THE SNOW AND SLEET LATER TONIGHT AND
  FRIDAY COULD ALSO RESULT IN SLICK SPOTS.

6 AM CST SATURDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AMARILLO HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR LIGHT ICING AND SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM
6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM CST SATURDAY.

* EVENT...A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE TEXAS AND
  OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES TODAY. PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN THIS
  AFTERNOON AS LIQUID BEFORE TRANSITIONING TO FROZEN PRECIPITATION BY
  THIS EVENING. A COMBINATION OF LIGHT FREEZING DRIZZLE...AND LIGHT
  FREEZING RAIN IS EXPECTED FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE TEXAS AND
  OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES. ICE ACCUMULATION ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN LIGHT
  AND PREDOMINATELY ON ELEVATED SURFACES. A TRANSITION TO LIGHT SNOW
  AND SLEET IS EXPECTED FOR THE NORTHWESTERN TEXAS AND WESTERN
  OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES WHERE STORM TOTAL SNOW AMOUNTS COULD RANGE FROM
  1 TO 3 INCHES. ALSO BREEZY NORTHERLY WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH
  HIGHER GUSTS WILL CAUSE WIND CHILL VALUES TO DROP INTO THE SINGLE
  DIGITS FRIDAY MORNING ACROSS THE ENTIRE TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA
  PANHANDLES. FROZEN PRECIPITATION WILL END FROM EAST TO WEST BY
  SATURDAY MORNING.


* TIMING...LIQUID PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO TRANSITION TO A FROZEN
  PRECIPITATION MIXTURE BY 6 PM THIS EVENING. LIGHT FREEZING DRIZZLE
  AND LIGHT FREEZING RAIN WILL BEGIN TO TRANSITION TO LIGHT SNOW AND
  SLEET ACROSS THE NORTHWESTERN TEXAS AND WESTERN OKLAHOMA
  PANHANDLES BY MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. A TRANSITION TO A LIGHT
  SNOW...FREEZING DRIZZLE...AND FREEZING RAIN MIXTURE IS EXPECTED BY
  NOON FRIDAY. FROZEN PRECIPITATION WILL END BY 6 AM SATURDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS...THE COMBINATION OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN...SLEET...
  SNOW...AND BLOWING SNOW MAY CAUSE ROADS...BRIDGES...AND OVERPASSES
  TO BECOME SLICK IN SPOTS...FURTHER CAUSING HAZARDOUS DRIVING
  CONDITIONS.
