Redskins Hold Off Hays
10/10/2013

The Liberal soccer team scored two goals against the wind in the first half setting the tone for a 3-1 win over Hays Thursday afternoon at Redskin Field.  LHS sweeps the season series with Hays one year after the Indians won both regular season games and the Redskins won a playoff game.

Timothy Fitzgerald scored at the 21:13 mark on a ball which appeared in the grasps of the Indian goalkeeper.  Mizael Gonzalez added a goal at the 10:21 mark with an assist from Bryan Alvarez.

Hays scored a goal against the win with 11 minutes to play to make it 2-1.  But freshman Bryan Alvarez scored with 5:30 to play to give LHS the 3-1 advantage.

LHS is 6-5 overall and 2-4 in the WAC.  Hays is 5-7 overall and 1-5 in the WAC.

The Redskins play in the Wichita North Cup next week.
