Seward Clinches Second Straight Jayhawk West Crown
05/01/2010

Seward wins their second straight Jayhawk West title and third overall with two wins against Barton in Great Bend Friday. Seward beat the last place Cougars 6-3 and 12-2. In game one, Erin Roufosse allowed just one earned run and Seward won despite struggling defensively. Alicia Reyes hit a homer in the win. In game two, Tawnee Steeman made a rare pitching start in Seward's blowout win. Brianna Baron and Shelby Casey both homered in the win. Seward finishes the Jayhawk West 13-3 and 44-12 overall. Barton is 9-30 overall and 2-14 in the Jayhawk West. Seward opens the Region 6 Tournament at Wichita State Friday at 2 p.m. against the winner of Colby-Barton.
