Bulldogs Fall in Wichita but 12's Win State

The Liberal Bulldogs finish 1-2 at the 16 and under NBC State Tournament at Westurban in Wichita.  The Bulldogs beat the Wichita Sluggers Friday 15-0 beforea  7-4 loss to the Wichita Dodgers.  Liberal lost Saturday morning to the Wichita Indians to finish 20-20 on the summer. 

Law Greiner pitched a one hit shutout in the game one win.  In game two against the Dodger with players from Maize, Goddard, Haysville, and elsewhere, the Bulldogs led 4-2 going into the fifth against a team who made the NBC 16U championship game.  Liberal allowed five unearned runs.

In the final game Saturday morning, it was 5-0 after five before the Indians blew the game open. 

The 12's won state Monday morning in Wellington 10-4 over Cottonwood Valley after a 15-3 win over that same team Sunday night.  They beat Fort Scott Friday 9-1 and beat Paola 5-0 in game two.  They play in two weeks for the Midwest Plains Regional in Alliance, Nebraska. 

The 10's took fourth at Ottawa.  They won their opener 14-11 Friday but lost Saturday 11-4 before a 20-14 win over Stevens County late Saturday night into Sunday morning.  They lost Sunday 16-4 to Coffeyville and took fourth in the state and won the Sportsmanship award. 

The 14's won their district beating the Southwest League All Stars from Scott City, Ulysses, and Holcomb 8-2.  Kaiden Bigham was the WOW player and Trey Stout was the MVP.  Deladris Green was the winning pitcher.  The Rattlers won game two 4-0 over Lakin.  Trey Stout pitched a two hit shutout and was the MVP.  Cole Evans was the WOW for his defense.  In the district championship, the Rattlers beat the Southwest League All Stars 7-6.  The WOW was Serbando Avila and Kaiden Bigham was the MVP.  They play in the state tournament at Lyons Friday at 2:30.  The state bound team will be featured during the Sportsguys Wednesday morning.  LHS and Bulldog head coach Eric Olmstead come on Thursday's show.
