Hooker High School Graduate Loses Life in Afghanistan

The Hooker Advance reports a Hooker High graduate David Johnpaul Thompson lost his life in the Wardak Province of Afghanistan while in action. The captain for the U.S. Army was killed January 29. A memorial gathering will be held in Hooker March 27 from 2 PM to 6 PM at the Hooker Community Center. Thompson was on his third tour in Afghanistan and earned his green beret as a member of the Special Forces. Thompson graduated from HHS in 1989. He played football, took state honors in drama, and earned his orange belt in karate. He is survived by his wife and two daughters who live in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
