Dead Cow Causes A Two Vehicle Accident
03/14/2010

A dead cow in the middle of US 160 16 miles west of Ulysses caused a two vehicle accident that sent a Garden City woman to the hospital. The accident occurred Friday morning at 8:43am when a 2008 Chevy Tahoe being driven by Victor Mora, 32, of Garden City, was westbound on US 160, 16 miles west of Ulysses, hit a dead cow in the middle of the roadway. Mora turned around to locate the cow, when a second vehicle, a 1996 Jeep Cherokee, being driven by Shirlye Steinert, 53, also of Garden City, hit the same cow and veered into the Mora Vehicle. Steinert was taken to Satanta District Hospital to be treated for her injuries, Mora was not hurt. Safety restraints were in use in both vehicles.
