Grijalva Crowned 2013 Cinco de Mayo Queen

A very large crowd packed the Seward County Activity Center on Saturday evening, May 4th, as the community celebrated Cinco De Mayo. The festivities kicked off with a large downtown parade at 7:00pm, with the festivities at the Activity Center beginning at 8:000pm. There were several contests including a best dressed dog contest, Gangnam Style Dance Contes, Musical Chairs for the children and adults, a Greieco Contest and a jalapeno eating contest, there was entertainment, giveaways, and several community sponsored booths. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of the Cinco De Mayo queen. Competing for the title, cash, prizes and scholarships were Diana Gomez, Misty Grijalva, Celestina Padilla, and Vanessa Nunez.The new 2013 Cinco De Mayo Queen is Misty Grijalva. Activities continued throughout the evening, as things wound down around 11:00pm.
