LHS Softball Settles for Senior Day Split

It wasn't a great week for the Liberal softball team.  After blowout losses (24-5 and 12-1) to Garden City Tuesday, Liberal split with a 1-7 Wichita Southeast team Friday on Senior Day at the Liberal Softball Complex.  LHS won the first game 11-9 but lost game two 10-6. 

In game one, LHS won despite seven errors.  LHS scored one in the first and five in the second to take a 6-0 lead before Southeast put up a four spot in the third.  Liberal scored in the third to lead 7-4.  LHS took an 8-4 lead with a run in the fourth.  Southeast plated two in the fifth and three in the fifth.  The Buffaloes scored three in the seventh but Liberal held on.  Jaycee Darroch pitched six innings striking out six and allowing four earned runs for the win.  Kaitlyn Ralston was 2-4 with a three RBI triple in the second with two outs which was the biggest hit in the game. 

Liberal is 6-4 and Southeast is 2-8.  Liberal plays at Garden City Tuesday. 

Seniors Cynthia Cisneros, Riley Hay, Jaycee Darroch, Kaitlyn Ralston, Ilse Rosales, Micah Hasik, and Roxann Anchondo were the seniors recognized in between games.  Student  trainer Blake Edwards was also recognized.  Boys tennis players Joseph Cotto and Angel Hernandez were recognized.  Girls swimmers Paige Ermann, Alejandra Gonzalez, and Patience Lahita were recognized.
