Golf Competes in Hays
04/16/2013

Liberal's golf team finish ninth out of 11 at Smoky Hills Country Club in Hays Monday.  Zach Kirby from Dodge won the tournament with a score of 73.  Dodge city won the tournament with a score of 315 followed by Hays with a 318.  Liberal shot a 390. For the Redskins,  Blake Stout shot a 94, Daniel Dowell a 96, Michael Begley and George Fitzgerald carded 100 each, Blake Brenneman fired a 101 and Hunter Sandell a 102.  Head coach Kody Thexton says the Skins didn't handle the Hays course well

"We let the course beat us.  We struggle as soon as something goes wrong and we don't seem to grind out a decent score.  There was good scores to be had today, the conditions were not that tough, a little cool but manageable.  We have to keep it together when things go wrong and recover the best we can. "

Next tournament will be at Dodge City at mariah hills on Thursday weather permitting.
