Newman Salvages Final Game of OPSU Softball Series
04/15/2013

oodwell, Okla.-After winning both games in the doubleheader on Friday, the
Aggies could not complete the sweep on Saturday as Newman University won the
final game of the series 10-1.

The Lady Jets held the Aggies scoreless through six innings of play as they
racked up their 10 runs. In the seventh inning, lead-off Britnie Weddle
smacked a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch and then Bristol
Ashlock singled to send her home. Newman's Taylor Parsons worked all seven
innings in the circle, allowing eight hits and striking out three. OPSU's
starting pitcher Brittany Scruggs was credited with the loss, scattering
eight hits and giving up four runs in three and one-third innings. Weddle
had two hits for three at-bats and had eight putouts at first base.

The women continue Heartland Conference play at home April 19 with a
doubleheader against St. Mary's that begins at 1 p.m. with the third game
scheduled for April 20 at noon.
