Seward Softball Sweeps Barton

The Seward Softball team gained their first conference sweep of the season taking two over Barton Friday at Lady Saints Field 8-0 and 11-6.  Seward improves to 3-3 in the Jayhawk West.

In game one, Brittney Sharkey fired a one hitter gem against Barton (6-10, 0-6).  Seward scored single runs in the first two innings before putting up three in the third and fourth.  Michelle Duford, Felisha Vogelaar, and Rachel Shockley had two hits a piece.

In game two, Seward used the big inning for the win.  The Lady Saints scored five in the third and fourth innings after one in the second.  Duford hit a home run and was 2-4 with three RBI's and three runs.  Sierra Tadiarca had three hits while Vogelaar, Ashley Kirkes, and Samantha Phelps had two hits a piece.  The Lady Saints (20-14, 3-3) won despite six errors. 

Seward hosts Colby Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Lady Saints Field.
